The Orthopedic Mechanobiology Laboratory at Virginia Tech was established in 2015. Our laboratory mission is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of skeletal soft tissue injuries through translational research studies.

Recent Updates

June 2024

  • Dylan earned an Outstanding Poster Presentation Award (Mechanism to Therapy- Emerging Technologies and Therapeutic Outcomes) at the ORS Tendon Section Conference (Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN).  Great job, Dylan!

May 2024

  • Hearty congratulations to our new lab graduates
    • Kyle, Megan, and Alex completed their undergraduate BME degrees (and will now pursue their masters research projects in the Wang Lab)
  • Georgina, Emily, and Sam presented at the Annual SBES Research Symposium at Wake Forest
  • Rebecca, Stella, Blake, and Bradely joined the lab as undergraduate research assistants. Welcome!
  • Dylan was named TBMH student of the year (Education category).  Congrats!

March - April 2024

  • Dylan earned 3rd place at the VT Muscle Symposium (oral presentation category) 

February 2024

  • Morgan joins the lab as an undergraduate research assistant
  • Georgina and Dylan presented posters at the Annual Meeting of the ORS (Long Beach, CA), Dylan presented in the future post-doc session, and Vincent co-moderated an Education and Outreach Session  
  • Congrats to Vincent who was named an ORS Fellow !

Fall 2023

  • In collaboration with Drs. Kozar and Brolinson of VCOM, the lab receives grants from the Department of Defense and American Osteopathic Association to study the role of the thoracolumbar fascia in non-specific low back pain
  • Soham, Rishi, and Annika joined the lab as undergraduate research assistants
